I am an auntie of a brand new baby girl! My sis-in-law Amelia went into labor at about 1:30 today so it was rather quick and I am so happy for her. Unfortunately, my brother is in Iraq so he wasn't there for the birth and they aren't going to name her until my brother gets to see a picture. Hopefully, I will have more info soon!
As for my sister (who is also pregnant) she is doing well except for having to pee every 10 minutes as she said. She is going in for a test to see whether she has gestational diabetes this week.
In other news, I am sick as a dog for, I think, the third time this year. I'm kind of alarmed since I hardly ever get this sick. I think my throat is being worn away by hacking coughs and acid reflux. I really need to make a doctor's appt. Not that I can complain too much because I got to sit on the couch all day and watch a good portion of the third season of Buffy from Lover's Walk all the way through The Zeppo. :)

| | tired | ] | I must say I was a tad disappointed with my day on friday. It was Dolls concert day and I worked the early shift so that I could make it to the show in time to take in all the festivites. Well, that didn't work out as I had planned. I left my house with enough time to get me there one hour before the show so that I could have plenty of time to participate in the brigade acts and maybe blow sime bubbles and say hi to my friends. First of all, I got stuck in some traffic. Not all hope was lost because I would still have half an hour to kill. Well, then I got lost. I took the very same exit I took not one week ago to go to a concert at the Orpheum and all of a sudden the road I was supposed to take wasn't there anymore. (yay, thank you, Boston!) I ended up taking a nice leisurely tour of Southie, the North End, Quincy Market, the Financial District, Chinatown, and finally, the Theatre District. (I say leisurely when truthfully I mean steering-wheel-clenching, anxiety-attack-inducing, 45 minute RIDE OF DEATH.) Needless to say, I missed practically all the of the lovely Brigaders and pre-show festivities.
As for the show, ...I was kind of un-impressed. Porches on the Autobahn were, for lack of a better word, BAD. Maybe I just didn't get it but I have a feeling even if I had I still wouldn't have really enjoyed them. Nor did I enjoy any of the in-between acts. Sorry, but that comedy duo with the toast was not funny. Humanwine, however, was fantabulous. This was my first time seeing them live and it certainly won't be my last. Holly's voice is amazing! Did anyone else think the Dolls were a little...off? Maybe it was the venue (too big IMO) or maybe they were just having a bad day but something just wasn't right. Also, Sing turned out a bit too "we are the world" for my tastes. I appreciate what Amanda was trying to get across but the little girls and the holding hands were sappy.
All that said, a mediocre Dolls show is still a million times better than 99.99999% of music these days. Also, we had an extra ticket last minute so we got to take Josh's little brother Marcus and he enjoyed the show very much. Yay for new fans!
The rest of my weekend was better. We laid low on Saturday and went to a friend's birthday party on Sunday. |

| | Bourbon Princess - Waiting Noon | ] | I have been having strange dreams the past couple nights. I don't remember too many details but in the first one, I was pregnant, about to give birth, and just waiting in this special birthing chair/tub. The strange part was that it was in the middle of some abandoned office building that looked like it was right out of the '20's. There were people around me but I never registered who they were or what they were saying to me. I was content on listenening to my own thoughts about how calm I was and how nothing hurt at all. It actually seemed like a very pleasant dream which is odd since the thought of having children scares me when I am awake. Though, I did read somewhere that dreams about pregnancy rarely have anything to do about actually having children. They mean something entirely different. In the second dream, my sister had just given birth to her child (is there a theme here?) and I was trying to play with him. He kept trying to stand up but kept falling backwards and hitting his head on the floor. I was only mildy worried and embarrased and I only vaguely remember my sister telling me to stop. There was a second part to the dream but it seems to have slipped my mind.
On a more fun note, I got to go ice skating on Saturday for the first time in a few years. A bunch of my friends gathered at the frog pond on the commons and had a grand old time! It is so much nicer than going to an ugly old rink. You get to breathe in the fresh air and see all the beautiful lights of the city (even though the choice of music is a little questionable). Plus, I love the sound of skates on ice. It took me quite a few laps to be confident enough to enjoy it and I hoping I can do it more often so I can have a little more fun each time I go.
After the skating we went to TGIFriday's in Braintree for dinner and I have discovered that they make the best mudslides EVER. They are like a delicious chocolate milkshake. I saw my cousin at the restaurant and she told me that she is going to Japan this summer! I am excited for her and I hope she has a wonderful time.
As for tonight, it is looking to be a pretty mellow Valentine's Day. I hope you enjoy yours! Now I am off to lunch to finish off my yummy pasta leftovers from Friday's. Mmmmm
For your enjoyment, there are a couple pictures of our iceskating posse.( Read more... ) |

| | Dresden Dolls - Have to Drive | ] | To start off, on Saturday, I went to what was possibly one of the best concerts I have ever seen. Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls did a solo show at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and it was positively heavenly. Usually when the Dolls paly it is in a club atmosphere and everyone is loud and they are banging away on thier instruments and it is a rockin good time. This time, it was just her and a piano, and a completely silent audience. I had forgotten how much better a show can be that way. I swear she brought me to tears a few times because she is one of those performers that lays out her whole soul on the stage for you to see.
As a bonus I got to see one of my new favorite musicians, Jason Webley. He is awesome and he did a hilarious cover song. Ok, picture a very tall, skinny, scruffy looking white guy, very tom waits like (in appearance and voice) and all he was playing was an accordian. He sang Outkast's "Hey ya" !! It was freakin awesome.
After the show, Josh and I, and a bunch of our fellow Dolls friends headed to a nearby apartment for an after party and we crashed in Boston overnight. As a result of lack of sleep in a very small chair, I now have a cold. I knew it was coming and that was the last straw. The next afternoon, after a yummy pasta lunch made by the lovely Robyn, Josh and I headed out for the long train ride home. Jason Webley was playing again that night but Josh insisted on watching the superbowl (which I slept through) and I didn't argue because I was so run down and exausted.
Monday, I got some rest and after work tonight I headed up through Boston again to the Regent theatre in Arlington where Josh and I lined up to be extras in the upcoming new video for the Dresden Dolls! They arranged us in the theatre seats and panned across the crowd while we sang along to the "ahhhhhs" in the chorus. I was right in the middle of the crowd so I don't know how well you will be able to see me in the video, but I will be sure to point it out to everyone!
That is the latest from my exciting life! |

I just needed to state that Amanda's solo show was absolutely heavenly! I had forgotten how much difference a quiet audience can make! Now if she could only tour with a real piano all the time...
I also had loads of fun at Robyn, Ronny, and Dave's apartment afterwards (even though my cold got worse from lack of sleep, heh). It was so nice to finally hang out with all of you awesome people! Thanks to Robyn again for making a delicious lunch. :)
I hope to see most of you at the video shoot tonight! |

I haven't updates in a while so I thought I would just ramble on...
Yesterday would have been my grandmother's 100th birthday were she still alive! Still, she made it to 91 years old so that is saying something.
My sister (who is 11-ish weeks pregnant) had her first ultrasound today! She faxed me the sonogram but the quality was bad so I couldn't really make out any shapes or anything. O well, she still seemed so excited and I am very happy for her! I have to save up all my vacation time this year so I can spend a lot of time with her and her new family!
I am really looking forward to Amanda's show at the MFA on saturday. There are about nine of us going. We have recruited so many fans and I am proud.
I don't know why, but work has been really depressing lately. My co-workers (who I usually like) are all getting on my nerves and I hate this company with a passion. I guess I am in a funk in general because I am never happy at home either. I wish Josh and I could just hurry up and get our own place. Who knows if that will even fix my issues but I really think a big change could do me some go. Let's hope.
Lauren and I have a silly tradition that whenever someone has a camera around, we have to take a close up pic of the 2 of us. Here is the latest silly edition...I thought it actually came out kinda nice. ( Read more... ) |

Some of you non-Dolls followers may remember me blathering about being in the Brigade at one of thier shows at which they were filming for a DVD. Well, the time has come...it is going to be released on the 22nd! There were so many cameras in so many places that day, I had no idea what my chances were of showing up in the film, but as it turns out.....
HERE I AM! In all my bubble blowing glory! Thanks SO MUCH to Doug who gave me this little sneak preview. :) You made my day, darling. I am honored to share a screen shot with Lusitania and Ronny (and correct me if I am wrong but, is that Christopher Lydon in the middle?)

A couple weeks ago we had a "Batman Begins" party and Lauren made Scarecrow masks out of burlap and little batman masks also. I bought bat shaped cookies. :) Well, for those of you who are big fans you know what came out today!
Here is Lauren as Violet Beaudelaire

And me as Charlie Bucket

I am planning as we speak for when the Dresden Dolls DVD comes out! That is of course if none of you lovlies are already having a party... |

| | hopeful | ] | Josh and I decided to go to the cottage this weekend so we can get as many chances before the season is over. So, of course it was cold dreary and rainy all weekend. I am making it a point to go up at least one more time after all the trees change color. Even though we were stuck in the house most of the time, we still had a good time since you can't help but relax when you are there. We played cards, watched all three Harry Potter movies and since it was chilly at night, we pulled one of the mattresses into the living room and slept in front of the fireplace. Hopefully we will get to go aple picking this weekend since we were rained out this past weekend. |

Oh well. I actually do have cool news though. I got a new car! Yayyyyy it is a green VW Beetle and I looooove it so much.

I think I want to go apple picking this weekend. I have been itching to do that ever since autumn was imminent. I love autumn. |

Yes, "Bucky" is what they will call me when I am finished learning how to drive a standard. Josh and I were lurching around the mall parking lot for half an hour tonight but all in all I am doing pretty well. I am trying to learn because I want to buy a new VW Beetle and VW makes a better standard than an automatic. Besides the fact that I should know anyway because both my father and boyfriend drive sticks.
Josh, his brother Marcus, his sister Lauren and I were planning to go to Canobie Lake Park tomorrow but it looks like it is supposed to rain all day so we might have to shelve our plans. Stupid rain. We took the boat out in the harbor today and did a bit of swimming and kayaking and checking for sharks (that was pretty much all me though). I am such a chicken when it comes to the ocean. If the water isn't perfectly clear I am nervous that some creature will come from the depths and bite my leg off or something.
We are watching Pulp Fiction right now and I am hoping for clear skies tomorrow. Wish for sun for me!

Monday, Josh, Lauren and I were bored so I decided I would like to take a second trip to Forest Hills Cemetery in Jamaica Plain, MA. It is a gorgeous cemetery that is hundreds of years old. Many important Boston names are buried here, it is open to the public every day, and they do walking tours every so often. Also, local artists are allowed to make sculptures and various art projects within the cemetery. (you can read more about that on the site, there is some really neat stuff!) It was a pretty hot day so we didn't stay as long as I had hoped we would but that's ok we can always go back. The fun part was, as we started to drive away, I noticed I had a flat tire! Thankfully the AAA guy only took maybe 15 minutes to get there and fill up my spare so I could actually use it.
I took many pictures of interesting graves and various sculptures. Please excuse my thumb in a few pictures; it decided it was feeling left out that day.

Is it bad that I want to beat up someone else's family?? My best friend is getting married in less than 2 weeks and where is her family? IN BERMUDA ON A CRUISE. While, poor Gina is left to plan everything from out of state. When are they coming home, you ask? THE NIGHT BEFORE THE WEDDING.
I ordered 4 pairs of the same shoes for all 4 of us bridesmaids and when I dropped her 2 sister's shoes off at their house I EXPRESSLY told Andrea to call me IMMEDIATELY if they didn't fit. Well, sure enough, I call Gina's cousin's house today to tell her about the bachelorette party and her aunt says "Oh good I wanted to get ahold of you because Sandra's shoes don't fit." After trying not to yell "WHY DIDN'T YOU CALL ME??? I DROPPED THEM OFF A WEEK AGO" I said, "ok, well let me see if I can exchange them" "Oh no", she says "Sandra has to find a totally different shoe." (oh, and apparently Andrea's shoes are 'wobbly') After more confusion I finally call Gina who immediately calls her aunt back. Her aunt proceeds to call ME a liar, saying that they did try to contact me (do you think they called more than once? I doubt it). To which Gina promptly lays into her "Don't you DARE call my best friend a liar! (thanks Gina) After all that, her sisters seem to think that they are going to find suitable new shoes the night before the wedding. Gina is going to tell them to shove it, and wear the shoes anyway.
To add to that situation, Gina's mother refuses to take Sandra and Andrea's dresses to a shop to be tailored, stating that She want's to do it herself to save money. Andrea's dress needed to be hemmed 5 inches. So, what does she do? Raises the shoulder straps 5 inches!! Who does that for christsakes?? Now, Gina is having heart failure because all she can do from Virginia is imagine in her head how horrible they are going to look. I think. when Gina comes home this weekend, we are going to break into her parent's house and steal the dresses back and see what the damage is. ::sigh::
I just wish there was more that I could do! This isn't even the half of it either. They have been nothing but trouble since the day she got engaged. (not to mention her whole life)
